Autumnal Experiences in Llanbedrog
When it comes to seasonal preference many of us are divided. Some people love the Spring as it signals new beginnings, brings lighter nights and blooms with anticipation for the summer ahead. Many visitors to Llanbedrog look forward to nothing more than the heady summer months, of days on the beach and the water, BBQs, and the buzz of the children’s holidays. And then there are people who love nothing more that the transition from Summer to Autumn, to feel a chill in the air, the warmth of a woolly jumper, and the crinkling leaves under their feet. For these ‘autumnophiles’, the time has arrived, and there is no better place to experience this than on the Llyn Peninsula. Here are some of our favourite autumn experiences to be had in and around Llanbedrog.
Pumpkin Picking
Grab a wheelbarrow for a fabulous time with family and friends and pick your own pumpkin, then carve it, decorate it, cook it, and eat it. Our neighbours at Crugan Farm now offer a pick your own pumpkin where they have pumpkins of all different colours, shaped and sizes. Keep watching their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/crugan.pumpkins.
Dining Delights
If you read our blogs regularly you will know we are obsessed with local dining delights. This Autumn we will look forward to Monday at the Plas Glyn y Weddw café where diners can enjoy a hot meal, pudding, and coffee for just £10. A fabulous deal available between 12pm – 3pm from the 16th October through to the 20th November. We also love the draw of the roaring fire, especially at the Glyn y Weddw and Tremfan Hall, and whether it’s a quick drink or an indulgent evening of fine dining, guests are always welcome. Tremfan offers its, always impressive, dining spooktacular with its dramatic Fright Night on the 28th October and Halloween Weekend lunches on the 28th and 29th October. Choose from Jack O’Lantern Soup with Garlic Oil, Fiery Pork Tomahawk Chopper, Banana & Brain Fragment Cake, and more dastardly delights.
Outdoor Live Performances
Enjoy the improvised playful and hypnotic live performance of Warning Notes by international artist Mark Anderson at the Plas Glyn y Weddw. Starting from 4pm for 4 hours on the 20th and 21st October, audiences are welcome to drop in and stay as long as they like. Enjoy and be part of this ensemble of visually striking mechanical ‘instruments’ – gongs, bells, whistles, and explosive moments await. As day turns to night you can enjoy the rich and powerful soundscape in the most stunning autumnal setting. For further details of these performances and workshops see https://www.oriel.org.uk/en/whats-on.
Quieter Beaches
Once the summer crowds have dissipated, there are moments in autumn when you can have the beach to yourself. Grab a coat and with space to yourself why not fly a kite, build a pebble stack, beach comb for treasure, or just enjoy a stroll. Warming drinks and great food are available at Llanbedrog Bar Beach which remains open 9am to 6pm until the end of October, then opening hours reduce. And remember well behaved dogs are allowed off leads on all of Llanbedrog beach from the 30th September, so let your four-legged friends enjoy their freedom too!
Whatever you choose to do, you’ll be sure to see that Llanbedrog isn’t just for summer days, it’s a perfect place for all times of the year.
