Oriel Plas Glyn y Weddw Arts Centre and Café
Oriel Plas Glyn y Weddw Arts Centre and Café is a Grade II Listed Victorian Gothic Mansion nestled under Llanbedrog Headland. With spectacular grounds and uninterrupted sea views across the front lawn towards Cardigan Bay this place is a real jewel in Llanbedrog. Built in 1857, the mansion retains the original architecture and elegance whilst housing a modern programme of art exhibitions, concerts, talks and workshops plus a renowned café and shop stocked with an abundance of Welsh art gifts and homeware. Outside, the lawn is a fabulous place to relax with an afternoon tea and the outdoor amphitheatre hosts theatre and concerts under the sun and stars. The surrounding woodland can be easily explored and, if you really do love this place as much as we do, you can stay in the on-site holiday cottages or even hold you wedding or private event in this stunning building in an unrivalled location.
St Pedrog’s Church and Church Hall
St Pedrog’s Church is beautifully located in Lower Llanbedrog with a pretty stream to the front and a well-tended surrounding churchyard. Dating back to the 13th century, this building has been the heart of the village and the community and continues to play a pivotal role in village life. The Venerable Andrew Carroll Jones offers a warm welcome to all including his ‘swallow’ congregation that return seasonally. The Church hosts a series of events and the Village Fete, held in July, is an annual community highlight. The Church Hall lies a few hundred yards away and is home to a host of regular activities including yoga, a knitting and sewing guild, an art group and more.
National Trust Activities at Llanbedrog Beach
The National Trust take an active role in their ownership of Llanbedrog Beach. Children of all ages can grab an activity backpack from the cabin on the car park and complete a series of fun and challenging activities on and around the beach. There is also a walking trail, workshops that take place on the beach throughout the summer and many adventures to join in including ’50 things to do before you’re 11¾’.
Bob Valentine’s Shooting School
Located at Wern Newydd in Llanbedrog, Bob Valentine’s Shooting School offers great training and instruction from beginners through to the more experience shot. With over 30 years’ experience you can be sure to get the best clay pigeon shooting, shotgun training, sporting clays, simulated games, archery and most entertaining group and corporate days.
Llanbed-Rocks
Started during the first Covid-19 lockdown Llanbed-Rocks was a community pastime which has turned into an activity engaging local and visitors alike. Everyone can join in painting stones or shells and hiding them around the village. Find and re-hide the stones, post images of your finds on social media and see how far your stones travel. Remember to mark your painted stones with ‘Llanbed-rocks’ then keep an eye on Facebook and Instragram pages to track your stones journey! On the wall outside the Spar in Llanbedrog you can see some of the stones created in the first Covid-19 lockdown and they mark the community spirit which shone brightly during difficult times.
